Newton Lodge - Lochmaddy - Isle of North Uist - Western Isles - Scotland
North Uist is one of the islands making up the archipelago that is the Outer Hebrides. This beautiful island is situated two hours across the sea from the Isle of Sky. The island is a stunning mixture of isolated white sandy beaches and turquoise seas, machair lands and freshwater lochs. The backdrop to the island consists of heather covered rolling moor land hills where deer and birds of prey can be spotted.

The island runs thirteen miles, north to south and is joined to the neighbouring islands of Berneray and Benbecula by causeways. Activities on the island include fishing, water sports such as diving and surf canoeing, walks along the beaches, machair or over the hills, and bird and seal watching. The RSPB have a nature reserve at Balranald where many of the islands coastal waders and divers can be seen. For the past few years the corncrake has been nesting in the bottom of the garden at Newton House.

Newton House is a family house with a small cottage attached to the main house. The house sleeps 16 and the cottage 4 (for further details see the Accommodation section). The Newton (Port nan Long) peninsula is surrounded by white sandy beaches and set against the backdrop of Beinn Mhor and Beinn Bhreac.
